Can one step really effect your entire treatment?

How preparing the skin can determine your Entire dermaplaning Treatment Outcome

Prepping the skin is a vital part of the treatment if not one of the most important components of your Dermaplaning treatment protocol.

When you thoroughly prepare the skin with a recommended preparation solution, such as 70% alcohol acetone or Advanced Esthetic Training’s dermaplaning prep solution, any moisture and loose epithelium is removed.
The cells of the stratum corneum lay flat, but, when the skin is thoroughly dehydrated the edges of the cells will slightly raise around the edges on a microscopic level. Proper skin preparation prior to dermaplaning makes it much easier to remove the cells, contributes to a more even exfoliation and allows greater depth of treatment.

Improper skin preparation will lead to poor treatment results... These solutions include toner, witch hazel or pre peel prep. They have moisturizing as well as other undesirable properties for the procedure we are discussing. By using these solutions, you will not be able to remove the dead skin in their entirety, sometimes at all or in only in patches resulting in poor treatment outcome and lack of treatment depth. It is possible that blade can stick to the moisture which will result in a nicking your client and the vellus hair can slip under your blade.

This concept can seem foreign and invasive to some Aestheticians however it is common in medical practice to use the solutions mentioned above for all exfoliation treatments including microdermabrasion. Using them to prep for chemical peels results in excellent product penetration. Remember what you take out of the skin with your debriding solution during your treatment you will feed back into the skin with active ingredients that will be able to penetrate deeper into o the getting down to where they need to be to do their job especially after you have removed the stratum corneum that acts like a barrier.
